The Congress of Deputies has given on Tuesday May 9 the first step to ensure that the lawyers and attorneys of the Office shift remain exempt from paying VAT, situation in which they were before the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) ruled that free legal aid had to be taxed.
The Plenary of the Senate has approved the joint initiative of PP and PSOE that will guarantee that the lawyers and attorneys of the Office shift are exempt of the payment of the VAT, with which the obligatory nature of the Treasury imposed in January in application of a sentence of the European Union (EU).
With 225 votes in favor, 18 against, and one abstention, the House has given the green light to the proposed Law of reform of Free Legal Assistance without introducing any change with respect to the text left the Congress, so the regulations will be published in the BOE without the need to return to the House of Representatives
